A thorough examination of the cardio-respiratory system should be made to identify features consistent with pneumonia e.g. bronchial breathing, dullness to percussion, crepitations on auscultation of the chest, pyrexia, tachypnoea and tachycardia.
Alternatively, the findings on chest examination may point to an alternative diagnosis such as pulmonary oedema, pleural effusion or pneumothorax.
As a minimum which parameters should be recorded for the patient?
