Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) – Clinical Case 2

Michael, a 48-year-old male, arrives at the ED with a sudden onset of extensive bruising and petechiae over his body. He mentions that he was recently diagnosed with a viral upper respiratory infection. He denies any history of bleeding disorders or recent medication use.

He has normal vital signs and is afebrile and aside from the petechiae and purpura the remainder of his physical exam is unremarkable.
