A 32-year old female presents to your Emergency Department with moderate abdominal pain. She has also noticed her arm is puffy and her watch no longer fits her right wrist properly.
The patient tells you she has been receiving fertility treatment abroad and flew back to this country yesterday. When you ask her, she mentions that she had egg retrieval seven days ago. The trigger injection listed on her prescription was choriogonadotropin alfa but she has no more details of the treatment protocol; her private fertility clinic is uncontactable.
Her vital signs are within normal limits. She has pitting oedema of her right upper limb but her abdominal examination is unremarkable.
Her full blood count, C-reactive protein, renal function and electrolytes are all normal. You have also requested liver function tests, a urinary hCG and electrocardiogram.
