The Ambulance and Police services have been called by a family member of a 36-year-old male with a history of schizophrenia and recreational drug use. He has been hallucinating, destructive of his flat and trying to jump out of a window.
The ED registrar for the night shift hands over that the patient required an IM benzodiazepine to gain control of the situation and for the last 20 minutes has been lying on the bed, calm, and the nursing staff now inform you he appears to be compliant with interventions.
