Securing the Drain
Finally, secure the drain.
Use '1' silk to do this.
If the wound needs further sutures, close as you would do routinely.
The key points in the procedure are:
- Horizontal mattress suture
- Knot the suture 10 cm high
- Wrap the two ends firmly around the drain
- Pull the knot underneath the horizontal suture
- Loop around the drain and tie
