Investigation

  • Unexplained tachycardia may be a clue. Also look for atrial and ventricular ectopics.
  • Consider bedside echocardiogram.
  • Consider use of troponin for evidence of myocardial injury [2]
  • Persistent hypotension with no clear haemorrhage is also suspicious for myocardial injury (once spinal and obstructive causes are ruled out).
