A 19-year-old university student attends the emergency department (ED) complaining of fever, headache and malaise 24 hours after receiving a meningococcal group B (MenB) vaccine. He is concerned that the vaccine has given him meningitis.

On examination, his temperature is 38.2 C. He is alert, with no neck stiffness, photophobia or rash. Observations are otherwise normal.
