A 5-year-old boy is brought to the Emergency Department (ED) by his mother. He has a swollen, red left eye that started this morning. He has mild fever (37.8 C) and nasal congestion for a few days. His mother states he gets frequent colds and ear infections but nothing affecting his eye.

The child is alert and has been playing with toys in the waiting room. Examination reveals erythema and swelling to the eyelids. It is possible to fully open the eye and eye movements are intact and painless. There is no proptosis and no reduction in vision.
