A 60-year-old woman presents to the emergency department (ED) with pain in her right hip which has been getting worse over past few weeks. She has no history of trauma.

She has been taking Alendronate once weekly over the last five years for osteoporosis.

On examination, the patient has normal observations and a full range of motion of both hip and knee joints. You note diffuse tenderness over the right thigh but there are no bruises or swelling, and both legs are of equal length and position.
