A 2-year-old boy is brought to the Emergency Department (ED) 20 minutes after a detergent capsule burst into his face. He cried immediately and has been rubbing his right eye since.
On arrival, the right eye is red, watery and tightly closed. Vision cannot be assessed due to distress. No other injuries are seen.
You suspect an alkali chemical injury.
