As the Emergency Department (ED) registrar, you are called by a resident doctor to help manage a 22-year-old male brought into the ED resuscitation area, presenting with wheeze, cough and shortness of breath with an increased work of breathing. He complained of chest tightness and is now becoming drowsy.
The patient has a clinic letter which mentions his background of “difficult asthma”, eczema and hayfever.
After assessing the patient, you believe he has “life-threatening asthma.”
