A 43-year-old lady is referred by her general practitioner to the Emergency Department (ED) with non-traumatic left thigh pain and swelling for 2 months.
The GP organised blood tests for the patient, including a d-dimer test which was positive, and requested a lower limb Doppler scan to assess for a deep venous thrombosis. The patient has no past medical history.
