Not So Hip

A 6-year-old boy with a background of sickle cell disease presents to the emergency department (ED) with two days of worsening right hip pain and is unable to weight bear. There is no history of trauma.

Examination reveals normal observations and a temperature of 37.2. There is tenderness over the right hip and knee, no skin change or effusion is noted. There is no neurovascular compromise of the limb.
