You are the senior registrar in charge of the Emergency Department (ED) at your Major Trauma Centre at 23:30hrs on a Saturday. Your receive a pre-alert call from the air ambulance team who are bringing a 32-year-old male, who has sustained a single stab wound to the epigastrium whilst outside a pub.

Vital signs at scene GCS 15 Sats 96% on 15L via Non-rebreathe mask, RR 22 BP 110/85 HR 88. They are approximately 25 mins away by road.
