A 14-year-old girl attends the emergency department following a fall whilst ice skating. She describes a mechanism whereby the injured ankle was plantar flexed and everted. She was unable to weight bear immediately after the injury and remains non weight bearing in the ED.
On examination, she is unable to move the injured ankle. An x-ray is performed and is shown below:
