Jehovah Witness and Blood Transfusion

A 54-year-old male is pre alerted to the resuscitation room with haematemesis and is hypotensive. On assessment he looks pale. He has a past medical history of gastroesophageal reflux. He is on no regular medication.

Observations:

Blood Pressure- 89/67, Heart Rate -110bpm, Temperature – 37.4 degrees Celsius, Blood Sugar – 5.6, Respiratory Rate -24, Oxygen Saturations – 94% on air. GCS-15/15.

He tells you he is a Jehovah witness (JW) and shows you a card.
