A 9-year-old girl is brought into the paediatric trauma unit following a car vs car road traffic accident. The adult occupants were taken to an adult trauma unit.
At the time of the accident, the child was in the back seat but improperly restrained by a three-point restraint with the shoulder belt behind the back. Paramedics have noted abdominal wall bruising. The child is quiet but looks in pain.
