A 29-year-old female who is normally fit and well attends the emergency department after falling at home whilst hanging out washing. She reports falling onto on to her left arm, and is now complaining of pain in her wrist. She works in an estates department.
On examination there is no bruising or visible wounds but she has swelling over the ulnar and capitate region. Her examination is otherwise normal with full range-of-movement and sensation.
An x-ray of the wrist is performed and is shown below.
