Trek Tragedy!! Review on Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is a spirochete infection transmitted by ticks. Emergency Department (ED) presentation, although rare, is important to identify to enable early treatment. Therefore, this learning module will summarise the pathophysiology, clinical features, management and preventive aspects of Lyme disease.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the pathophysiology of Lyme disease (LD)
  • Understand the varied clinical features of Lyme disease
  • Discuss the management of Lyme disease
  • Be aware of the preventive aspects of Lyme disease
